RoomsJust a few kilometers from Spoleto, nestled in the Umbrian countryside surrounding the small village of Poreta, the estate stretches across more than 300 hectares. The historic Villa, dating back to 1673, is the private residence of the Marchesi Montani della Fargna. Today, the villa’s former agricultural buildings have been carefully restored and converted into charming country houses with a swimming pool—ideal for a relaxing stay in Umbria.
Not far away, the old farming hamlet, Borgo della Marmotta, has been transformed into a rural hotel with 22 rooms, a swimming pool, and a restaurant. This prestigious estate has belonged to the descendants of the della Genga family, now Montani della Fargna, since the 15th century. The villa, set in a landscape of rare beauty and peaceful charm, was once the hunting retreat of Cardinal Annibale della Genga, who became Pope Leo XII in 1823. The estate also operates as a working farm, producing high-quality organic monovarietal olive oils, Umbrian truffles, artisanal cheeses, and local legumes. We offer guided tours of the olive mill and truffle grounds, as well as tastings of our organic oils. In October, guests can even take part in the olive harvest. Its strategic location makes the estate a perfect base for exploring Spoleto and other art- and culture-rich Umbrian towns such as Foligno, Trevi, Montefalco, Spello, and Assisi. The nearby Valnerina offers untouched nature and ancient monasteries.
